Road riding around Las Vegas means public land: a one-way scenic loop through Red Rock Canyon, a paved trail that circles the River Mountains, a gravel rail trail above Lake Mead, and a long climb up Mount Charleston. Each agency charges bikes differently. Red Rock charges $8 for a bicycle and doesn't require a timed-entry reservation for bikes. Lake Mead charges $15 per person on a bike, good for up to seven days. Each ride page below lists the agency, the distance where it's published, the fee and the closures we found.
The valley has a strong group-ride scene, and the easiest way into it is a shop ride. Pedal & Pour in the southwest valley runs a relaxed Sunday Coffee Ride and a faster Friday Loop Ride from the shop; ride times and RSVPs are on its Strava club. Giant Las Vegas runs three weekend rides at different paces from Summerlin and Mountain's Edge, and the Las Vegas Valley Bicycle Club posts a Sunday ride from Einstein Bagels on West Cheyenne every week on Meetup. The full list is on the group rides page.
Valley of Fire and Lake Mead are just as good on a road bike as on a motorcycle; we file them under motorcycle rides because that's how most people ride them, and they're linked below. Valley of Fire charges $2 per bike.
Coming to North Las Vegas: the city is building a trail along the 215 Beltway. Its construction bid list includes the 215 Northern Beltway Trail, Segment 1, from North Decatur Boulevard to Clayton Street. A November 2024 city release says a Bureau of Land Management grant will pay for Phase 2, a 12-foot-wide, 1.5-mile extension along the Beltway from 5th Street to Losee Road. We haven't found a cost or a finish date on a city page yet, so we're not listing one.
Before you ride, read the Nevada bicycle and e-bike laws: riders are limited to two abreast, and drivers must give at least 3 feet when passing. Summer heat is the biggest risk here, so check the heat guide and carry more water than you think you need.
