Las Vegas is a good base for day rides: Valley of Fire to the northeast, Lake Mead and Hoover Dam to the east, Red Rock Canyon to the west and the road up Mount Charleston to the northwest. Each is run by a different agency with its own fees. Lake Mead sells a $20 motorcycle pass that covers up to two motorcycles for seven days. Valley of Fire charges motorcycles the regular vehicle day-use fee, $10 for Nevada plates or $15 for out-of-state plates. On the Red Rock Scenic Drive, motorcycles need a timed-entry reservation from October 1 to May 31, unlike bicycles.

Hoover Dam is federal property with a security checkpoint on the Nevada side. Every vehicle can be inspected, so expect to open your bags. Firearms and drones are prohibited, and you can't stop on top of the dam. Parking is $10 in the Nevada-side garage.

Nevada law requires a helmet for both the rider and the passenger, and lane splitting is illegal under NRS 486.351. Two motorcycles may ride side by side in one lane. The Nevada motorcycle laws page has the statutes.

To rent a bike, EagleRider runs the rental fleet at Las Vegas Harley-Davidson on South Las Vegas Boulevard, and EuroCycle Rentals rents BMW, Triumph, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia and Zero motorcycles. For riding with a group, the Southern Nevada H.O.G. chapter meets Saturday mornings at the local Harley-Davidson dealerships and posts its chapter rides online. Las Vegas BikeFest came back in October 2026, and its site lists September 30 to October 3, 2027 for the next one.
